Swanage has a rich cultural heritage: the beauty of the unique coastline and town have drawn artists of international stature to paint here, including Walter Field, Charles Conder, Paul Nash, Mark Gertler, Augustus John and Graham Sutherland.
Swanage Seen celebrates this with an Art Trail - a display panel, showing the painting, a portrait of the artist and a short biography, placed on or near the site from where the original picture was painted.
Comments & Quotes“Very many congratulations on the exhibition in Kay's Restaurant of the various artists who have been drawn to Swanage and its surrounding countryside over the years. I had no idea there were so many painters who have had a significant relationship with the area. I must say the idea of a kind of 'artists trail' bringing these artists and their 'Swanage' work to a wider public is an excellent one and I very much hope your group can pull it off. The exhibits themselves are of excellent quality.”
